Since this was an oversize item the seller asked for more money to cover the shipping since the low cost carrier would not take a package that size. It was framed as an upgrade for faster shipping, not as a mistake on their part. All of this was after I had asked before buying the part if the calculated shipping amount was correct and was told it was.
